SPECIALITY: This hard-to-find stall is tucked away in a coffee shop in a quiet corner of Toa Payoh. Those in the know will order the airflown New Zealand tenderloin at $15. The tenderloin is moist, juicy and utterly delicious. The potato croquet served on the side is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.

SPECIALITY: Tucked amid mid-price eateries at Novena Ville is Wee Nam Kee, which serves authentic Hainanese chicken rice and "zhi char" dishes. The chicken is cooked to juicy perfection and the rice, flavoured with chicken stock and garlic, is tasty. Try the roast chicken too.

SPECIALITY: Fried hokkien noodle is undoubtedly a favourite national dish. Tian Tian Lai serves a yummylicious concoction of squid, prawns, a bit of chives mixed with noodles and bee hoon, chilli and lime. Once you have tried it, you will be back for more!

SPECIALITY: Ban Mian (hand-made noodles) is a favourite among Singaporeans for a filling and satisfying lunch. Traditionally served with minced pork, this dish is now starting to appear in halal foodcourts around the island. Each bowl of freshly made ban mian is served piping hot in a bowl of soup, topped with minced chicken, anchovies and an egg.
