Fast payment with E-invoice

Government vendors can look forward to a more efficient Public Service insofar as bill payment is concerned. All thanks to the Accountant-General’s Department (AGD) for taking the bold and innovative move to cut red-tape by introducing electronic invoices.

The Civil Service processes thousands of invoices amounting to millions of dollars every month. The Electronic-invoice (E-invoice) system is set to bring about great benefits in terms of time and efforts saved in payment processing.

With the E-invoice system, vendors can simply send their e-invoices to AGD and they will be automatically uploaded to the government accounting system for processing. With a click of a button, a payment voucher is generated and routed to the relevant officers for approval.

Other benefits of the new system are greater accuracy, transparency and convenience for all parties
involved. Most importantly, vendors can expect to receive their payments promptly.

The E-invoice system is currently in the first phase of implementation, involving selected vendors and two pilot ministries. In phase two, the system will be extended to more government vendors and ministries.
