The Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore
(IDA) will have ongoing programmes to educate the
public that it is convenient, easy and safe to transact
online. We will continue to emphasise the values
of the TrustSg seal, which assures online consumers
of peace of mind when transacting online.
In addition, FASTEN UP! security measures
will also be promoted to remind online users to
protect themselves against cyber attacks when they
go online. Consumers can keep a lookout for these
educational messages promoted online, on television,
through outdoor media and in the newspapers.
TrustSg is a nation-wide trustmark initiative to
promote safe and reliable online transactions. Only
e-merchants with thorough and reliable practices
are accredited with the TrustSg seal.
The seal assures that personal data like your credit
card number is protected and online payment is secured
with the use of advanced technology like high-level
encryption protection.
It also guarantees that your goods will always arrive
punctually and in good condition, there are no hidden
clauses, ambiguous terms or conditions, and cancellation/refund
policies are clearly spelt out.
And should a dispute arise, a convenient channel
is in place for
seeking redress.
Visit www.trustsg.com.sg
for your list of TrustSg accredited e-merchants.
FASTEN UP! is a set of five most essential
security practices, which when adopted, will significantly
lower one’s chances of becoming the next cyber
attack victim!
Of course, FASTEN UP! is not 100% foolproof,
so do continue to find out about other good infocomm
security practices. However, if you can only remember
one good practice, remember FASTEN UP!
