Family & community services under one roof

Just a few clicks is what it takes for you to locate an old folks’ home, student care centre or home for the disabled through the online Directory of Family & Community Services. It is also a breeze to find out about counselling services, public assistance schemes and skills upgrading programmes online.

Ms Ying May Ling, a staff from the Infocomm Development Authority, is someone who found the online directory very helpful.

-
“When my son was three years old, I remembered having to look all over, such as the newspapers, Yellow Pages and the street directory, for a child care centre. Information was either incomplete or outdated. In the end, I walked around Tampines estate to physically locate the centres and ask for information on fees, opening hours and programmes. It took me a few days,” she said.

“Now, with the Directory of Family & Community Services, I found a student care centre for my Primary 3 son within just a few hours!”

The following information is just some of what is available online:

Child care services: Find out about the 690-plus child care centres in Singapore. Refine your search by specifying the price range, type of services and even menu.
Student care services: Learn about the 300-plus student care centres that provide before and after school care.
Disability services: You can even narrow your search based on the type of disability and/or type of programme.
Elder care services: Search for a home for the aged, day activity centre, etc. There is also information on counselling, residential care, recreational activities and more.
Family services: Get information on family counselling and education, youth programmes, children’s enrichment classes, helplines, etc.
Financial assistance for the needy: Learn about public assistance schemes, student assistance schemes, etc.
Community and social assistance services: Locate voluntary welfare organisations and link up with Community Development Councils to find a job match, learn more about government assistance schemes and skills upgrading programmes.

The online directory provides one-stop access to up-to-date and pertinent information. Location maps are also available.
