The scent of success
is sweet indeed — especially for students
of Singapore Polytechnic (SP) who concocted
two perfumes that captured the hearts of Singaporeans
earlier this year.
Nine students from the School of Chemical
and Life Sciences experimented with 100 different
types of scents before settling on two —
a sensual mix of freshly picked flowers for
ladies and a musky, seductive blend for men.
The perfumes, which are the first Singapore
perfumes to be created and retailed by students,
were developed and formulated at SP’s
Cosmetics and Fragrance Centre.
When 3,000 bottles of the limited edition
perfumes hit Seiyu departmental stores in
February this year, they were snapped up.
This attests to the students’ entrepreneurial
spirit and ability to innovate and create
products with market appeal. SP is now exploring
the possibility of commercialising the perfumes
on a larger scale. |
