Make someone’s day!

Every public officer will receive these two cards to be given to colleagues whom they think exemplify the qualities.

Giving compliments is almost an art. (Hands up those of you who can recall an instance when you were lost for words to praise someone.)

Thankfully, there is now a new and easier way to give someone a pat on his shoulders which works equally well for both the vocal and less vocal.

The next time you see a public officer providing exceptional services, present him with a card that says “Great Service”.

And if you are bowled over by someone who has manifested
excellence in accomplishing complex tasks, praise him with an “Excellent Work” card.

From September, these cards will be circulated among public organisations in conjunction with the launch of The Singapore Public Service Identity Tagline — The Singapore Public Service: Integrity, Service, Excellence.

Each public officer will be issued with these two cards to be given to fellow officers whom they think exemplify the qualities.

The tagline is a distillation of The Singapore Public Service Corporate Statement drafted in 1995. (For details of the corporate statement and new identity tagline, read the related articles.)

Said RADM (NS) Teo Chee Hean at the launch of the tagline on 6 July 2004: “The identity tagline is short and easy to remember. It highlights the fundamental values and qualities that I hope all public officers will embody and identify with.”
