Project: Collaborative One-Stop Virtual Engineering System (COVES)
Status: Trial completed
Project description: A broadband portal offering Web-based software that enables several parties to collaborate on a project. It enables government agencies to tackle environmental, occupational health, fire safety and emergency response planning issues when designing a factory.
 
Project: MSDS Workbench
Status: Trial completed
Project description: The Knowledge WorkBench Checker comes with an artificial intelligence Information Extraction (IE) engine and is the world’s first system designed to automatically read and validate the contents of technical documents.
 

TEC Champion: Dr Lynda Wee from Republic Polytechnic
Project: Educational Innovation for the Knowledge-Based Economy: Development of Problem-Based Learning Model
Status: Trial completed
Project description: This is a novel and creative educational approach that focuses on each individual’s learning capability. During the trial, a Problem-Based Learning education model was implemented and evaluated. The model trains students to take responsibility for their learning whilst developing them into holistic thinkers and problem-solvers.
 

TEC Champion: Mr Gene Tan from NLB
Project: Aspiration Pathfinder
Status: Phase I completed, Phase II ongoing
Project description: This innovation transforms libraries to become (1) an initiation point for users to realise their aspirations; (2) a pathway-builder to develop opportunities for users to realise their aspirations; and (3) an integration point for all opportunities related to aspirations.
 

TEC Champion: Mr Lim Seng Kim from SPF
Project: Detection of Latent Fingerprints using Phase-Resolved Optical Technique
Status: Trial ongoing
Project description: The use of optical imaging processing technique to quickly and easily detect latent prints at a crime scene. The new technique can potentially enhance the operational effectiveness of police investigations.
