Are you looking to buy a flat? Now there’s an easier way to go about it. Interested flat buyers can check out e-Sales, the Housing and Development Board’s (HDB) new one-stop marketing and sales portal.

Before the implementation of e-Sales, interested flat buyers had to visit HDB Hub or HDB’s roadshows at the site offices to collect sales brochures for information on flats. They had to check the brochures, Teletext, and HDB’s website to ascertain the available units.

Now, with e-Sales, launched on 19 June 2003, flat buyers can get all the information they need at their fingertips. They can check out various maps of towns; write-ups and pictures of towns, facilities and amenities; site plans; block key plans; pictures of external architecture and facades; view virtual show flats, as well as the detailed listing of flats on sale. They can also apply for flats online. In fact, everything they need to make a purchase decision is now within easy reach.

Excellent results
The number of hits on this site stands at between 10,000 to 20,000 per day.

Said Mrs Heng Mien Joo, Head of Marketing and Promotions, “With the high number of hits to e-Sales, we are confident that the system is meeting its objective to be a useful and friendly portal for the public’s use. Since the launch of e-Sales, we have seen a higher percentage of applications for flats under Balloting Exercise and Build-to-Order made through the Internet.”

HDB also enjoys cost savings as now fewer hard copy brochures need to be printed.

Future enhancements
HDB is making continuous improvements to e-Sales to ensure that it remains customer-friendly. It is looking into expanding the scope of the portal to include information for flat buyers who have booked a flat and are waiting to collect their keys.

There is also potential to include e-marketing features on the portal. These will enable HDB to reach out to more potential flat buyers via personalised emails.

And for flats yet to be constructed, such as those offered under Build-to-Order, HDB will also look into offering users a virtual walk through of the external and internal environments so that they can get a good perspective of their future home.
