‘Star search and fundraising at AVA

Dr Ngiam presented a $5,000 cheque to Ms Tong.

The Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) organised a talent search to showcase the special talents of AVA staff apart from their ability to deliver quality work.

Attractive cash prizes were awarded to AVA’s stars who could sing, dance, act and/or play an instrument.

The talent search attracted 13 entries from 7 teams and 6 individuals. From the semi-finals held on 31 March 2003, 6 finalists emerged to compete with one another in the grand finals on 20 June.

F3 emerged champion as well as the Most Popular Talent of the Year.

The finals was definitely a show worth catching! In fact, the three top winners are slated to perform at the upcoming AVA Annual Dinner and Dance to be held on 29 November 2003.

However, the most heartwarming moment during the AVA Star Search 2003 finals was when CEO Dr Ngiam Tong Tau presented a cheque of $5,000 to Ms Tong Yoke Tho, Deputy Director, Group Corporate Communications, National Healthcare Group, Ministry of Health, for the Courage Fund.

AVA raised a total of $5,000 for the Courage Fund through various staff activities such as the Inter-division Bowling Tournament, sale of fruit hampers and voting for the favorite AVA Star Search 2003 finalist.
