Anti-SARS measures at HDB

Health screening for staff
The Housing and Development Board (HDB) conducted on-site health screening for staff from January to March 2003. The screening was held at the HDB Hub and all the branch offices.

The cost of the health screening package was subsidised by the Staff Welfare Fund. The items in the package included screening for blood pressure, total cholesterol level, glucose level, uric acid and a blood test.

Contributing to the Courage Fund
The HDB SHARE Programme working committee distributed peach ribbons on 5 May 2003 to all HDB staff. The staff were encouraged to wear the ribbons as a public demonstration of their appreciation to healthcare workers for their untiring efforts to help patients with SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome).

The committee also organised a donation drive for the Courage Fund within HDB. The limited edition compact disc album entitled “Through Your Eyes”, which is a special tribute to SARS caregivers, was also made available for sale to all staff. HDB staff responded with much support for the drive.

At the end of the donation drive, HDB staff contributed almost $23,000 to the Courage Fund.
