During
the Security and Trust Month held in July, Internet
users participated in fun and engaging fairs, workshops
and activities to learn how to be security savvy
and responsible Netizens.
The
Infocomm Development Authority’s
(IDA) Security and Trust Month was the first
of four thematic months under e-Celebrations
2003, IDA’s annual campaign to promote
an e-lifestyle.
Said Mr Leong Keng Thai, Deputy CEO of IDA, “We
want to equip Internet users with some basic
tools and know-how to protect themselves so that
they can perform online transactions with confidence
and peace of mind. Only then can they fully embrace
the e-lifestyle and reap the resulting benefits.”
The thematic month kicked off with the TrustSg
consumer fair, which featured local online retailers
who are accredited under the nation-wide trustmark
initiative, TrustSg. (To learn more about TrustSg,

story.)
Another highlight was the talkshows where participants
could pose questions to industry experts and
practitioners. Participants also got to hear
about cyber-crime cases, pick up safe online
shopping tips and learn how to prevent spam.
Industry forums were organised to help companies
better manage the risks of e-commerce operations.
There was also a conference which covered topics
such as security-related, legal issues and ways
to manage business risks on the Internet. |
