The
Public Service’s Innovation Movement was
formally launched in 2000. Since then, public agencies
have been moving from the awareness stage to the
operational stage of their innovation journey.
In April 2003, PS21 Office established a new Innovation
Unit under the Public Service Centre of Organisational
Excellence (PS COE). Its vision is to be a one-stop
innovation hub for assisting public agencies in
their innovation journey.
Headed by Mr Clarence Chia, who was formerly from
PS21 Office, the Unit would provide many services.
Training, assessment and consultancy
The Unit helps public agencies to attain the Singapore
Innovation Class standard by providing innovative
solutions and training. It will soon launch the
Singapore Innovation Class Workshop for Public
Service Agencies, so look out for it! For more
information on the courses, contact Mr Chia.
The Unit is also equipped to help conduct an assessment
of public agencies’ innovation quotient using
the I-SCORE methodology, as well as make recommendations
to plug the gaps identified.
Conducting research
Besides undertaking research projects that address
key areas of concern unique to our Public Service,
the Unit also helps individual agencies to conduct
research on innovation-related areas which are
of key concern to their organisations. The scope
of the research projects includes the design and
conceptualisation of research models, formulation
of research methodology, data collection and analysis,
etc.
Event management
The Unit can also assist organisations to conceptualise,
design and manage innovation events and initiatives
of all scales. Some of the events the Unit organised
or was involved in include the Innovation Circle
(I-Circle) Networking sessions and the Public Service
Division’s Innovation Market Day.
Seminars, workshops and conferences
The Unit regularly conducts seminars and workshops
on new topics and areas that will extend the boundaries
of your understanding
of innovation. |
