A tale of three towns

The Public Service Division’s Innovation Market Day kicked off with a skit entitled “A Tale of Three Towns”, which described three groups of townspeople in a land called “The Sky’s The Limit”. The three groups had completely different attitudes towards innovation.

In “No Life Town”, the people work very hard, are satisfied with the status quo and have no time to eat, sleep, relax or reflect. Their favourite phrase is: “But we have always done it this way.”

As for the people staying in “Pending Approval Town”, they do not dare to try new ideas as they are afraid that their Current Estimated Potential will be affected if they suggest the wrong idea. They are also afraid that their ideas will appear too ridiculous to others. Their favourite phrase is: “I check with my boss, can?”

On the other hand, “Ideas Town” is a new town where its people are brimming with innovative ideas and are eager to share their ideas and work hard to make them come true. The townspeople’s favourite phrase is: “The impossible we do first, miracles take a little longer.”

The purpose of the skit was to encourage officers to embrace innovation and to work hard to realise their ideas.
