Fun for everyone at ALOHA@Palawan

SCDF staff celebrated Family Day in Hawaiian style at Palawan beach on Sentosa.

Imagine putting work aside and simply spending a fun-filled day with your family at a Hawaiian-style resort with only one concern — how to have more fun!

What about basking by the beach by day, and enjoying the gentle breeze of the evening as you feast on a lavish spread of barbecued seafood by night?

Sounds like a cool getaway?

Well, all these and much more can be enjoyed at the sandy and sun-kissed Palawan beach on Sentosa. And that was where and how the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) spent their Family Day event.

For two consecutive days in June, some 2,000 staff and family members had plenty of wholesome fun at the event dubbed “ALOHA@Palawan, Scream and Shout at Sentosa”. The programme was organised over two days for the convenience of SCDF personnel on shift duty as well as their families.

Children, who came in large numbers, had fun with many specially arranged activities such as face painting, caricature drawing and colouring contests.

Everyone enjoyed the lavish spread and many fun-filled activities.

The hip and sporting staff enjoyed a variety of games and programmes such as beach volleyball, stage performances and even a foam party that saw them dancing the night away (not to mention working off the heavy dinner too!).

The Family Day event was just the beginning of a host of exciting programmes and events that SCDF has in store for its officers and their families. In fact, SCDF is a corporate Family Life Ambassador. (For more information on the Family Life Ambassador programme organised by the Ministry of Community Development and Sports, visit www.aboutfamilylife.org.sg.)

The SCDF recognises the importance of striking a firm balance between work and family life. That is why it has always placed strong emphasis on family-oriented activities to build stronger family ties, which are a vital social and psychological support in difficult times.
