Hundreds
of e-Ambassadors are being
trained to assist taxpayers
with e-filing at 22 eClubs.
The
e-filing of tax returns is not new to many. Last
year, 924,000 or one in every two taxpayers e-filed
their tax returns. This year, the Inland Revenue
Authority of Singapore (IRAS) will be extending
its efforts to bring the e-filing service closer to the public.
Twenty-two eClubs, under the umbrella of the People’s Association, will
provide free Internet facilities to anyone who wishes to e-file but does not
have the facilities to do so. The help does not stop there. Hundreds of volunteers
from the e-Ambassadors programme administered by the Infocomm Development Authority
will provide e-filing assistance at the eClubs on weekends from 15 March to 13
April, 2 pm to 5 pm.
One major enhancement to the e-filing system this year is a feature that allows
users to re-file. Hence any error from the first submission can be rectified
subsequently. This way, taxpayers will feel less nervous about clicking the Submit
button.
