Innovation
has always been one of the main thrusts of the Singapore
Civil Defence Force (SCDF). Many initiatives have
been introduced to help nurture and reinforce the
creative spirit within the Force.
Apart from WITs and the SSS, which have been implemented
throughout the Public Service, the SCDF has also
launched its own initiatives to promote innovation.
One major initiative was the Innoventure Scheme,
introduced in 2001. The SCDF coined the term “Innoventure”
to promulgate the innovation journey as an adventure.
The Scheme marks the next phase of SCDF’s
progress in its quest for innovation.
The Scheme is essentially a framework to cultivate
an innovative, creative and enterprising culture
in the SCDF. It consists of two key aspects: The
Innoventure Structure is a systematic network for
an innovative organisation, while the Innoventure
Culture is developed by creating a working environment
that stimulates innovation in officers throughout
the Force.
Many successful projects have taken off since the
introduction of the Innoventure Scheme. More importantly,
the Scheme will pave the way for creativity and
innovation to become a way of life for successive
generations of SCDF officers. |
